Discover Machine Dreams & Sun Beams at Kingfisher!

Summer 2026

A vibrant new piece of public art, Machine Dreams & Sun Beams, has transformed the upper level of Kingfisher near Vue Cinema and Car Park 1 into a colourful celebration of Redditch's heritage, creativity and natural environment.

Created by local artist Alec Saunders, the installation forms part of the Midlands Mosaics project, delivered in partnership with the University of Birmingham, Reimagine Redditch, Arts in Redditch and Kingfisher.

Inspired by Redditch's history, people, wildlife and the iconic Eduardo Paolozzi mosaics in Millward Square, the artwork reimagines the town through a contemporary lens. Comprising three striking panels, it tells the story of Redditch's past, present and future through bold colour, layered imagery and references to the town's cultural, natural and manufacturing heritage.

The project celebrates Redditch's rich cultural identity while showcasing the creativity and character that make the town unique. Whether you're visiting to shop, dine, watch a film or simply enjoy a day out, be sure to stop by and experience this exciting addition to Kingfisher.
