Be more BLUE with Kingfisher!

Waves of Change

Knowing where to start with tackling climate change can feel a little tricky, and even overwhelming at times. From the big to the small, to individual and collective efforts, ideas for how to improve environmental sustainability are anywhere and everywhere. Here at Kingfisher, we’re committed to engaging with and supporting our local community through these uncertainties.

For The Great Big Green Week 2024 we have teamed up with Redditch BID to launch our 2024 eco campaign, Waves of Change.

The giant whale bottle bank, made from 100% recycled material and situated in Worcester Square acts a visual reminder of the damage being caused to our oceans and aims to encourage the people of Redditch to recycle their single use plastic bottles.

Almost 17 tonnes of plastic was recycled by Kingfisher, Redditch in 2023 and with the help of the Eco Whale the goal is to exceed this for 2024. The whale will be swimming around Redditch town centre until May 2025 so there is plenty of time to help make a difference.

Adrian Field, General Manager at Kingfisher, commented: 'The big whale has gone down a treat with guests young and old and it has already swallowed a lot of recycled material already. We are committed to recycling wherever and whenever we can, as we hope that the people in the centre will do so in their droves as well.  ‘ droves as well.’
