Walk the Blindfold Mile is a fundraising event organised by the charity Sight Concern that aims to increase awareness of the challenges that blind and partially sighted people overcome each day.
Sight Concern will be challenging volunteers on Saturday 8th June to go out for a mile along a designated route, walking in pairs where one will be blindfolded and the other sighted. Pairs will have the chance to swap over en route. There will be challenges related to everyday tasks set up around the centre on your route which will include stopping for refreshments, purchasing a small item. The challenge will take place between 10am until 12pm.
The purpose of the event is to raise funds for Sight Concern and for participants to experience some of the challenges that blind and partially sighted people overcome each day. The route will involve a walk from the Church, past the College, Palace theatre, library before finishing at the Kingfisher Centre.
